Flowering Dogwood
Dogwood. Photo taken on May 7, 2023 in the Arnold Arboretum, Jamaica Plain, MA.
THE STORY
The Arnold Arboretum is a living museum of trees. The 281-acre botanical paradise lies in Boston, and was established in 1872. Consisting of more than 15000 individual plants and over 2000 species, the Arboretum is a treasure, open and free to the public every day from sunrise to sunset. Owned by Harvard University, the Arboretum hosts many educational programs and partakes in diverse research studies consisting of ecology, molecular biology, plant physiology, and more. The majority of the trees and shrubs focus on florals from North America and Asia, and the Arboretum sponsors collection trips to Asia annually. According to the Arboretum, each plant in the museum has a story to tell, and the best way to learn them, is by experiencing the gardens.
Pictured here is a Flowering Dogwood, a tree native to Massachusetts since before European colonization. However, it's not often you'll find one in the wild, as most of the trees were lost to a dogwood specific fungal disease. Nowadays, the most common dogwoods seen, often along streets and in homeowner's yards, are a cultivar made to be resistant to the fungus.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: Etsy does not allow multiple shipping profiles based on variations. Therefore, if you are an international customer and you do not agree with the cost of shipping, please email me prior to purchase. I am more than happy to work with you to get an accurate quote from the photo lab for the cost of shipping.
----------------
Please note: Each item is made to order so the processing time is approximately one week because I get my photos printed from a professional lab. Because of this, I do not accept returns unless they arrive damaged or have an obvious factory fault. If this is the case, please contact me at your earliest convenience.
The color on your monitor may vary slightly than the actual printed result.

PHOTOGRAPHER BIO:
Not at all a full-time photographer, I just recently finished my Master’s Degree focusing in Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution. I’m also in a veterinary technician program in order to become a wildlife and zoo veterinary technician.
I’ve always had a passion for animals, the outdoors, and photography. I do my best to capture images that make you feel as though you’re actually there. While digital photos often are beautiful, in the frequent words of my mother, “Can we look at it on a large screen? I can hardly see it on your phone,” I’m taking her suggestion one step further. Imagine looking at the photo on your wall. Imagine being able to see the detail one step shorter than actually being there. That’s my goal.
I hope you enjoy experiencing the natural world through my eyes and immersing yourself in my adventures.
